Dorothy B. Harris

Dorothy Brassell Harris, 77, of St. Stephen, SC, former owner & operator of Dot’s Shop, died Saturday morning at her residence.
Her funeral will be 2:00 PM Monday afternoon, March 10, 2014, in the Redeemed Holiness Church, St. Stephen. Interment will follow in the Harristown Full Gospel Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Sunday, and on Monday at the CHURCH from 1:00 PM until the hour of service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Redeemed Holiness Church, PO Box 865, St. Stephen, SC 29479.
Mrs. Harris was born October 14, 1936, in St. Stephen, SC, a daughter of Johnny W. Brassell and Ester Mitchum Brassell Morris. She was a member and trustee at the Redeemed Holiness Church, and a member of the St. Stephen Fire Department Board. Mrs. Harris enjoyed attending church, reading her Bible, working crossword puzzles, and playing solitaire, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and fellowshipping with others. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerald Harris; a sister, Willa “Tookie” Murphy; and four brothers, Johnny W. Brassell, Jr., Ben Brassell, Leroy Brassell, and Wilson Brassell. Mrs. Harris was the widow of Jesse W. “Cooter” Harris, Sr.
Surviving are, two daughters, Theresa Harris and Rev. Carmen Humbert both of St. Stephen; a step daughter, Joann Hilton and her husband, Andy, of Florida; three sons, Jesse Harris, Jr., Mark Harris and his wife, Lori, and Harley Harris all of St. Stephen; a sister, Alma Morris of Lugoff; a brother, Wade Brassell of Elgin; twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.
